In the midst of a pandemic Winter dive into the depth’s of Mind Power frontman Robert Meadows’ mind on a bleak journey through darkness and snow in an almost tortured existence beyond dealing with the daily reality of Covid. Written before the pandemic, “Mess” could have easily been a diatribe on the daily life we’ve all come to know all too well the past over the past year, yet here we are.
This limited pressing of 300 is available on Translucent Red/Black Splatter and Solid White and comes in a beautiful gatefold jacket. Each purchase comes with an immediate digital download as well as unlimited streaming access to the record via the Bandcamp app.
Featuring vocals from ex-A Life Once Lost frontman Robert Meadows and a lineup that includes former members of Ligeia, Dead End Path, and Bring the Heat, Self Torture features guest appearances from notable metal standouts like Norma Jean’s Cory Brandan, Darkest Hour’s John Henry and Michael Schleibaum, The Red Chord’s Mike McKenzie, and Most Precious Blood’s Rob Fusco just to name a few.
Originally released as quarterly digital only releases by the band, the 11 tracks off of Self Torture read like a book that’s woven from those releases with a cathartic, brutally honest, and at times self deprecating voice. Remastered by heavy music heavyweight Alan Douches, Mind Power’s first physical release is as heavy and earnest as the vinyl is beautiful.
We’re getting things sorted out over here to help ring in our 25th year, so we figured ‘Why not start things in a heavy groove?’
Without a doubt Mind Power is the heaviest band we’ve ever worked with, and it’ll be some time before we release an all out assault on your ears as thundering and groove heavy as Self Torture. Featuring vocals from ex-A Life Once Lost frontman Robert Meadows and a lineup that includes former members of Ligeia, Dead End Path, and Bring the Heat, do we even need to name drop guest appearances on Self Torture by Norma Jean’s Cory Brandan, Darkest Hour’s John Henry and Michael Schleibaum, The Red Chord’s Mike McKenzie, and Most Precious Blood’s Rob Fusco just to name a few? Wait, we just did.
Even without those guest appearances Mind Power’s effort on Self Torture is nothing short of brutal and exhausting.
The foundation for this release lies in the band’s prolific writing and recording throughout 2018 and 2019. Originally released as quarterly digital only releases, the 11 tracks off of Self Torture read like a book that’s woven from those releases with a cathartic, brutally honest, and at times self deprecating voice. Remastered by heavy music heavyweight Alan Douches, Mind Power’s first physical release has been given a while glove treatment by means of a limited Translucent Red/Black Splatter and White vinyl gatefold LP pressing. Originally slated for a 2020 release, we’re excited to finally get this out into the world. Vinyl ordering goes live next Friday, January 22nd, and digital drops on your favorite streaming service Friday, January 29th. Stay tuned for me details on that vinyl!
Attic Salt’s Get Wise is officially here and they’ve teamed up with Tony and the fine folks from @thefestfl to party down and celebrate with some friends this coming Thursday, October 1st. You can check out the live stream on The Fest FB Page or over at Socialdistance.party to join in on all the fun. Attic Salt starts streaming at 8:35PM Eastern Time!
The kind folks over at The Noise are streaming “Fool 4 U”, the third and final track from Attic Salt’s upcoming LP release Get Wise. Check it out right here!
Talking about the track, the band added, “Mud is actually the last song that came together right before we went into the studio to record. With the video we wanted it to be relaxed, and being our first video, we were unsure if we should do it ourselves or not but ultimately decided, let’s do it! The entire video was handled by us as well. Really no theme to it. Shot at our practice space, we just wanted to have fun.”
If we could use any word to describe Get Wise, fun is most certainly at the top of a list that includes infectious, catchy, and downright lovable.
Get Wise will be available on vinyl CD, and digitally through you favorite online and streaming services on September 25th, including a limited pressing on Translucent Blue/White spatter vinyl.
We’re super excited to announce that the sophomore effort from Attic Salt, Get Wise, is slated for a September 25th release on Jump Start! This four-piece outfit bring you 10 new tracks of super catchy Midwest power-pop-punk that follows up their debut self-titled release with even more hook filled goodness.
Like we’ve said before, if you’re not following us on Facebook or Instagram or on our mailing lists you miss announcements like the one for the 12″ vinyl LP release of Live Dec 9th 2017 from Off With Their Heads that we posted two weeks ago. Well, if you missed it, sorry but you’re out of luck. The entire pressing of 500 sold out in less than 13 hours.
Well, 2020 hasn’t really gone as planned, to say the least. We had hoped to get back to being a lot more productive around these parts, but between our own personal health issues, Covid, and then the chaotic (and much needed) street protests in support of Black Lives Matter, 2020 hasn’t gone necessarily to (our) plan. But that’s okay, we’ll all be better off because of it.
In the meantime, if you haven’t been following us on Instagram or Facebook, we highly suggest you do that. Last month we launched a $20 Vinyl Mystery Box that included some great Jump Start Records titles from the likes of MxPx, Horace Pinker, Noise By Numbers, Belvedere, Kill Lincoln, Astpai, Goddamnit, One Win Choice, Red Tape Parade, Laureate, and You Vandal just to name a few. If you missed out on that, be sure to start following us now. We’re working on another crazy Vinyl Mystery Box that we know you’ll want to get in on.
In the meantime, support you friends, love your family, and be kind to each other.
