Summer loving
July 28, 2010, 12:37:16 PM by kevin.
What happened to July? We have been down in the basement, sweating it out, and calling each other dringus. Alec McVey, better known as Frankie Inks and for his guitar work in Crucial Dudes, has been interning with us. He has been doing a bang up job. So here is what is going on at Jump Start. First, we repressed Lighten Up - Absolutely Not on translucent red vinyl. It looks lovely. Next, Metroplex will be having a record release show for "Decade Diary" on August 4th at Kung Fu Necktie in Philadelphia. If you don't own the album yet, go to the show and buy a copy. It's the good stuff. All of the final touches are being finished for the upcoming Astpai full length, "Heart to Grow." The master should be sent to press today and the album will be available in September. The record is lot more melodic and would definitely sit will with any fan of None More Black. You can check out a preview of the album here One Win Choice have been in the studio recording the follow up to "Never Suspend Disbelief". Jeremy tells me that it's sounding very nice. If all goes according to schedule, I believe that album will be available in February. Before the full length is released, a two-three song 7" will be available in time for The Fest 9. We have some announcements that we will be making shortly about new signings! We're stoked. October is Fest season and we will be there with a table full of albums. Last year, we showed up a bit late and did not get to take full advantage of the flea market but that will not happen this year! Jump Start will also have a table at This Is Hardcore Fest for all three dates. Stop by and say hello to the guys in One Win Choice and pick up a record.
No Idea Distro
June 04, 2010, 10:31:17 AM by kevin.
Hello Turkeys,
I have a little bit of news to share. A few days ago, No Idea started carrying Jump Start releases in their distro. If you head on over to www.noidearecords.com and search for Jump Start, you can find a nice list of items including the new Metroplex CD and Lighten Up CD. The 7"s that we sent them have not been listed yet, but should be up shortly and that includes the Astpai - Scavenger record. So please, check out the site, pick up some of our albums and then pick up some other albums because there is a whole lot of good music available on that website.

Metroplex - Decade Diary - Stream/Download/Pre-Order!
May 03, 2010, 11:15:07 PM by jeremy.
We're super excited to announce the upcoming release of the sophomore full-length effort from Philadelphia's very own, Metroplex!
Straddling a line between the post-hardcore sounds of bands like Fugazi, and Hot Water Music mixed with the power-pop-rock like The Thermals and The Postal Service, Metroplex has been a veteran on the Philly music scene for the better part of the last decade. Decade Diary is their long overdue second full-length and was recorded with Vince Ratti at Skylight Studios.
Decade Diary will hit stores May 18th, but you can now check out the entire record and pre-order a copy of the CD or beautiful double gatefold vinyl on our Webstore.
Again, we're releasing this in conjunction with our buddies over in Germany, Asscard Records, and we're super excited to be a part of this project.
You can now check out the full album stream on our website, download the FREE preview of this release, DONATE and DOWNLOAD super high quality 320K mp3s of the entire record (for any amount you'd like), or pick up a copy of the limited edition DOUBLE GATEFOLD colored vinyl LP or CD that is for sale on our webstore.
We will be announcing some super fun release shows very shortly, but in the meantime, do yourself a favor and check this band out, pick up a copy of the CD, 2XLP, or mp3s, and please continue to support independent music in any shape or form!
New Metroplex CD/LP - Decade Diary

Metroplex's sophomore full length, Decade Diary will be unleashed upon the world on Tuesday, May 18th, but you can check out a stream of the entire record and pre-order a copy of the CD or LP starting on Monday, May 3rd.
Decade Diary will be available as a 12 song CD, 14 song gatefold double LP w/digital download coupon, and through your favorite online digital provider. Oh yeah!
FREE Downloads - All of it is FREE!
March 25, 2010, 02:17:10 AM by jeremy.
So, we've made a huge decision here at Jump Start HQ. Instead of fighting the never ending tide of downloading that has become so commonplace with music these days, we're going to fully embrace this new found freedom and now allow you to download all your favorite Jump Start releases for FREE! That's right, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!
Just so you know that we're not completely crazy, in most cases we're not giving the entire record away, but most of it, and are reserving exclusive and extra tracks that can only be found on the CD, LP, and through our digital distribution retailers like iTunes and Emusic. What does that mean? Well, for example, if the record in question that you wanna download has 14 tracks we're going to give you 9 or 10 of them for FREE. If you like what you hear we hope you'll support the band by buying a CD, LP, or the rest of the tracks from our digital partners. Or, you could also make a DONATION of any size to help us continue to release awesome music from some great bands.
Simply click on our Discography link at the top of this page and you'll see everything you need to start downloading!
HELP KEEP INDEPENDENT MUSIC ALIVE!
We thank you sincerely for your continued support of this label and our band's efforts.
Harvest of Hope Wrap Up!

Jeremy has returned from depths of Florida. Not only did he return with a wicked sun burn but, he also came home with less merch than he went down with. I would call that a success. A lot of Beer Party Shirts were sold and a lot more free CD's were given out. Jeremy has been complaining about his hands feeling raw. I don't know what that could be from. We are half way through the month and you devoted customers have been keeping us extra busy with mailorder. The crazy thing is that we have even more deals that we plan on announcing soon. We are patiently waiting for the new Astpai 7" to arrive. As soon as they are here, the pre-orders will go out. Rad Fest is in May and Jeremy has plans to make it down there with One Win Choice. We'll keep you posted on that. Finally, we are continuing to talk with different bands and firming up future releases. Those details will be announced as we have more information on them. Get into it.
